KARACHI: To avoid a complete shutdown, Attock Refinery Ltd (ARL) has closed down its heavy crude distillation unit from Feb 5 to manage the high inventory of premium motor gasoline (PMG).

In a stock filing on Friday, ARL said currently the refinery has high PMG stocks due to reduced upliftment by the oil marketing companies (OMCs).

Other crude units will remain in operations during this shutdown along with normal operation of downstream processing units, the refinery said, adding that committed volumes and uninterrupted dispatches for the current month shall be ensured during the shutdown period.
