BAJAUR: Authorities on Wednesday reopened Thanagai-Charmang Road to traffic after it remained closed for the past several weeks due to security reasons.
Thanagai-Charmang Road, a vital link between residents of Lowi Mamund and Charmang valley, was reopened to all types of vehicular traffic after successful negotiations between a delegation of locals and district administration officials.
The delegation comprising elders, social worker and political activists raised serious concerns over closure of the road during the meeting. The meeting was held after a demonstration by locals against closure of the road.
Suleman Khan, Zubair Khan and other members of the delegation told journalists that the residents of the entire Lowi Mamund were glad to see that Thanagai-Charmang Road was reopened to all kinds of vehicle movement after it remained closed for several weeks.
They thanked officials for accepting their demand. They also thanked the residents of Thanagai, Garegal and surrounding localities for raising voice against closure of the road.
They said that reopening of the road was a manifestation of unity among residents of the area.
