BANNU: A teenage boy, who was critically injured in a toy-like bomb explosion in Domel tehsil, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday after battling for life for two weeks.
Family sources said Umar Zaib Khan was under treatment at Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital, Bannu, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Zaib had sustained severe injuries in the blast, and during the course of treatment, doctors were forced to amputate one of his hands and a leg. However, he could not survive.
The tragic incident occurred on January 21 near Government Doctor Khan Degree College on Bodeenkhel Road, when two youngsters – Aamir and Umar Zaib – found a toy-like suspicious object along the roadside. As soon as they picked it up, it exploded with a loud blast, leaving both seriously injured.
Following the incident, the injured boys were immediately shifted to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital, where the condition of one of them remained critical.
Residents have expressed serious concern over the presence of such lethal materials in civilian areas and have urged the authorities to take effective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
