BAHAWALPUR: The entire 19-member staff of Lodhran Saddar Police Station, including its SHO, has been suspended from service on charges of corruption.
Lodhran District Police officer (DPO) retired Capt Ali Bin Tariq took action on receiving the complaint that the police officials had allegedly freed the suspects in the solar panels theft case after receiving the bribe.
The suspended officials included SHO Faiz Raan, sub-inspectors Khursheed Ghalloo and Amir Haider Shah, ASIs Shehzad Mayo and Saeed Bhatti, naib moharrars Imtiaz Ahmed and Huma, constables Sajjad and Muhammad Asghar and other 10 officials. After their suspension, the officials were charge-sheeted for an inquiry against them.
The DPO posted Aamir Nadeem Gujjar as new SHO of the police station and appointed SP investigation to conduct an inquiry against the suspended officials.
However, DPO’s PRO Farman Ali Cheema said that SHO Faiz Raan and two others had been sent to the Police Lines and an inquiry against them had been instituted .
CCD ARREST: The Crime Control Department (CCD) Bahawalpur claimed to have arrested a motorcyclist, in injured condition, who harassed pedestrian women on the roads.
According to sources, on a tip-off, the CCD officials had erected where the suspect, on spotting the CCD officials, attempted to flee. Due to over speeding, he rammed into a roadside electric pole and got injured.
The CCD officials arrested him. He was identified as Shehzad Rafique.
BURNT: A housewife suffered burns after an explosion due to gas leakage in the kitchen at her house at Abbasia Town, Bahawalpur.
According to Rescue 1122, there was gas leakage in the kitchen but Shazia (36) did not notice it. As soon as she lit the matchstick, the fire erupted and her clothes caught fire. She suffered burns and was shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).
Meanwhile, a 12-year old boy, Wahab, was run over and killed by a tractor-trolley near Waseemabad in Bahawalpur city. His body was shifted to the BVH while police arrested the driver.
