GUJRANWALA, June 14: A landlord and his niece were shot dead by their rivals over a land dispute in Soratabad Kot Ladha village on Wednesday.

Reports reaching here said that deceased Abdul Rashid and his niece Rifat were present in their house when accused Waqar and Waqas along with their 15 accomplices came there and shot them dead on the spot. The other family members saved their lives after hiding themselves in a room.

Police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.

CAUGHT: The examination centre superintendent at Kamoki caught an FA candidate red-handed while copying English paper on Wednesday.

Accused Mohsin Hanif, who was taking his paper at the Government High School No 2 examination center, escaped when the superintendent checked him.

The superintendent got registered a case against the accused.

TAKES NOTE: The district administration took a serious notice of not pumping out dirty water from streets and bazaars in various parts of the city.

It also directed the Wasa authority to clear the choked sewer lines and get repaired turbines within 24 hours to resolve problems faced by the people.

DCO Manzer Hayat, who called an emergency meeting in his office here on Wednesday, ordered that the 175HP turbine of Rajkot disposal works should be got repaired immediately. He also warned that stern action would be taken against inefficient officials.
