Section 144 imposed in South Waziristan
SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: In view of prevailing security concerns and to ensure safe movement of security forces and logistical supplies, district administrations Lower and Upper South Waziristan districts have imposed Section 144 in various areas of both districts.
According to official notifications issued by respective both district administrations on Friday evening, Section 144 would come into effect on Saturday from 6am to 6pm. During this period, all forms of unnecessary movement have been restricted, while markets, bazaars and commercial centres will remain closed in the notified areas.
In Lower South Waziristan, Deputy Commissioner Musarrat Zaman issued a notification enforcing Section 144 in Wana tehsil and surrounding localities. The notification stated that the decision was taken to maintain law and order and to facilitate secure movement of security forces operating in the area.
Under the restrictions, public gatherings, non-essential travel and all kinds of movement have been prohibited for the specified duration. The district administration urged residents to remain indoors and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to avoid any untoward situation.
Meanwhile, in Upper South Waziristan, Section 144 has also been enforced from 6am to 6pm in the Sararogha and Sarvekai tehsils, according to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Asmatullah Wazir.
