Often, while reading a book, when you want to mark a page and can’t find a bookmark, you end up turning the corner instead, the classic way!
So, to avoid turning the corners, we are making a bookmark today. You can make as many as you like. After all, they’re your own creations, so you can experiment and come up with fun, personal ideas. Let’s start.
Things you need:
A piece of ribbon or string
A printout of a jar or sketch paper
Pencil
Eraser
Scissors
Glue tube
Coloured papers or pieces of foam sheet
Black marker
Hard plastic or soft
Hot glue (optional)
Directions:
I didn’t have a printout or a jar stencil, so I drew one myself. It only took about five minutes. If you don’t have a printout either, just draw a jar, cut it out and use it as a stencil to draw another one. Now you’ll have two jars: one with clear pencil outlines and one without. Pictures 2, 3 and 4.
Cut both jar shapes out of the paper. Then cut out the middle part so they look like real jars with a hollow centre, forming a jar frame; picture 5.
Draw small one-centimetre hearts on coloured paper or foam sheets. You can use a single colour or multiple colours; pictures 6 and 7.
The plastic sheet isn’t clearly visible in the picture, but I cut the plastic according to the hollow middle part of the jar. Paste one jar frame onto the plastic sheet and then place the hearts on it; picture 8.
Use hot glue if you want quicker results, or a glue tube if you have time. Paste another plastic piece of the same size over the hearts; picture 9.
Paste the second jar frame on top and use a marker to darken the outlines; pictures 10 and 11.
Insert a ribbon or string at the lid of the jar and decorate it further if you want.
