Protest against water shortage

MIRPURKHAS, June 13: A large number of people held a demonstration in Pithoro town on Monday in protest against water shortage. Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman Bashir Qureshi led the protesters. They carried banners and placards.

Mr Qureshi said that no dam would be allowed on the Indus river because the government wanted to render lands of Sindh barren.

He said that Sindh never faced water shortage in the last 58 years but now it was facing drought-like situation.

He said that Sindh paid huge revenue to the centre yet Punjab occupied its resources.

He said that the people of Sindh had been forced to take extreme steps and the government would be responsible for any incident. He warned that if water was not provided by July 1 then they would lay a siege to irrigation offices in Umerkot.

Taj Hussain Shah appreciated struggle of the nationalists and said that they were fighting for the rights of Sindh.
