RAWALPINDI: In order to enforce government ban on kite flying, police have devised a strategy that called for the arrest of anyone found in violation and obtaining of surety bonds from individuals previously booked in kite-related offences.

According to the directive issued by SSP Operations, following the registration of FIRs, individuals involved in kite-related offences must be arrested.

Police have also been tasked to book those individuals who have been using social media for promoting kite flying. In a directive issued by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations to the divisional SPs, SDPOs and SHOs, he expressed his concern over police failure to implement the ban on kite flying, selling and making of kites and firing in the air.

The SSP directed the SPs to arrange public awareness campaign by engaging notables of their respective areas, religious figures and traders’ union leaders to inform the public about the dangers of kite flying.
