Two-year diploma in IT

LAHORE: The Punjab Board of Technical Education has introduced a structured two-year Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) under a semester-based system, describing the programme as part of a wider effort to modernise technical education and prepare students for emerging trends in the IT sector.

The programme is spread over four semesters in two years and will include subjects related to artificial intelligence.

Officials said the initiative reflects PBTE’s intent to align technical qualifications with evolving industry requirements and to encourage broader participation by educational institutions in information technology education. The PBTE Governing Body has approved the programme framework and eligibility criteria.

Under the approved criteria, institutions based in Punjab may offer the DIT programme on the basis of existing registrations for DIT, Intermediate in Computer Science or equivalent qualifications issued by the Directorate of Public Instruction (Colleges) Punjab.
