QUETTA: Nine people, including four members of a family, were killed and six others injured in three separate road accidents in Loralai, Dalbandin and Qila Abdullah areas on Thursday.
Police said the incident in Loralai occurred in the Sarki Jungle area when a speeding car hit a motorcycle being ridden by a prayer leader, who was travelling with his wife. The couple were killed on the spot, while six other people travelling in the car were seriously injured. The vehicle overturned after the collision.
Police rushed to the site soon after receiving information about the accident and shifted the bodies and the injured to Loralai District Hospital. During treatment, three injured persons, including two women and a man, succumbed to their injuries. The seriously injured were later shifted to Quetta. However, an injured woman also lost her life on the way to Civil Hospital. The remaining injured were admitted to the Trauma Centre in Quetta.
After completion of legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the heirs. The deceased were identified as Mir Wali, Sajda, Robina Bibi and Ehsanullah, while the names of a girl and the wife of the prayer leader could not be ascertained.
In another accident, two people were killed on the spot when a pickup collided with an oil tanker on the Quetta-Taftan National Highway in the Dalbandin area. The deceased were identified as Dilawar, a resident of Washuk, and Muhammad Iqbal. Their bodies were handed over to their families.
Meanwhile, an auto-rickshaw driver was killed in Qila Abdullah town after a collision between a rickshaw and a speeding vehicle. He was identified as Muhammad Sharif.
