BUREWALA, June 9: Three teenaged siblings drowned in the Sutlej in the Sakkah area on Thursday. Mazhar (18), Shahnaz (16) and Salma (14) of Umida Lakhoka had gone to visit their uncle in Mauza Madrasa across the river. While returning home, they decided to go for a dip in the river, but they were swept away in the rushing water.
Their cousins who had come to see them off jumped into the river to save them, but they were also swept away when a fisherman heard their cries and managed to pull them out.
Divers recovered the bodies late Thursday night. — APP
