LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has granted approval to dispatch rescue and relief equipment for Murree following reports of expected heavy snowfall.
Provincial Health Minister and Cabinet Committee for Disaster Management Chairman Khwaja Salman Rafique, Punjab Disaster Management Authority Director General Irfan Ali Kathia and other relevant officers took the decision in a meeting held here on Thursday.
The minister reviewed the rescue and relief equipment including search and rescue jackets, tire snow chains, mechanical saws, winter tents, raincoats, folding shawls, quilts, warm gloves, umbrellas and hats.
While talking to media representatives, he said arrangements had been completed for the expected heavy snowfall in Murree. He said snow-fighting equipment was being provided to the Murree administration.
He said that PDMA was taking preventive measures to prevent loss of life and property. Tragedies could be avoided with timely preparations.
