KARACHI: A three-year-old boy who was abducted from Karachi a few days ago has been recovered from Moro, district Naushahro Feroze, following a joint operation by law enforcement agencies, officials said on Thursday.
The child, identified as Zain, was kidnapped from the Shah Latif Town of Karachi, prompting an intensive search that led police nearly 400 kilometres away from the provincial capital to Moro.
According to police officials, the recovery was made by the Malir police in coordination with the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). The operation also involved the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and the Naushahro Feroze police.
One suspect was arrested from the raided place.
SSP Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs20 million for the child’s release, who was abducted while he was playing near his home. Following the kidnapping, a special investigation team was formed under the supervision of the DSP and SHO of Shah Latif Town, SSP Pirzada said, adding that investigators were interrogating the arrested suspect to determine how the kidnappers managed to transport the boy far away from Karachi without detection. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining suspects.
