LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board’s Board of Governors (BoG) on Tuesday gave its approval for the second phase reconstruction of the National Bank Stadium, Karachi and remodelling of the Lahore City Cricket Association ground on the design of Lord’s.

The decisions were taken during an online BoG meeting chaired by PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, according to a press release issued by the PCB.

However, there is no mention in the press release on the said meeting about some major pending projects.

This include constructing a hotel near the Gaddafi Stadium, for which the PCB had already purchased a multi-storey building for a whopping Rs680 million, and a plot adjacent to the building.

Furthermore, there is no decision yet on when the newly-built main building of the Gaddafi Stadium will become fully operational.

The PCB had decided to accommodate foreign teams close to the Gaddafi Stadium in order to avoid huge expenses on security arrangements for bringing teams to the stadium from hotels, located far away from the venue.

The PCB bought the building almost one year ago but no work on it has started yet.

Meanwhile, the meeting was informed that a state-of-the-art cricket stadium will be built in Islamabad, a project which was considered for the first time back in 2005.

The House was also briefed on the arrangements made for the road shows organised in London and New York for attracting suitable buyers for two new teams of the Pakistan Super League for the next ten years.

On the occasion, the House was informed that the PCB will try its best to also include Muzaffarabad Stadium as a venue for PSL-11 being held next year from March 26 to May 3.
