LAHORE: Imran Ahmed Sheikh, former staffer of Dawn, passed away on Tuesday due to health complications after several months of his Whipple procedure. He was 56.

He started his journalistic career in the early 1990s from The Frontier Post as a sub-editor. Later, he joined Dawn and worked here for a decade. He briefly worked for Express TV before joining The News as its news editor in 2007. He is survived by his widow and three brothers — Irfan Ahmed, Adnan Ahmed and Rizwan Ahmed.

His funeral prayers were attended by a large number of his colleagues, media persons and people from various walks of life. He was laid to rest outside the shrine of Hazrat Tahir Bandagi (RA).

Qul will be held at Bismillah Mosque near his residence after Zohr prayers on Wednesday (today).
