GUJRANWALA, June 7: The patwaris in the district on Wednesday called off the strike on the assurance of the local administration that the Anti-Corruption Establishment officers, who had humiliated a tehsildar, a qanoongo and a patwari would be transferred.
Reports said three revenue department officials visited the ACE office for compliance of an official order, but they were humiliated and kept into illegal confinement. Reacting to it, the patwaries went on strike throughout the district.
District Coordination Officer Manzar Hayat called the Anjuman-i-Patwarian leaders and assured them that the ACE officers would be transferred and their demand had already been recommended to the Punjab government.
ILLEGAL CONFINEMENT: A sessions court bailiff on Wednesday raided the People’s Colony police station and recovered a youth, who was detained there for the last several days.
According to reports, Ijaz Ahmad’s relatives informed District and Sessions Judge Mazhar Husain that the boy was picked up by the police from his house and kept into illegal confinement at the behest of his rivals.
The court inducted bailiff and ordered to produce the detenu in court. The judge summoned for hearing an SHO and an investigating officer.
CHARGESHEET: A union council nazim, who was held for alleged involvement in a fake matriculation certificate case, was chargesheeted by a court here on Wednesday.
Khalid Manzoor, the nazim of Manzoorabad union council, was arrested and sent behind bars two months ago.
SCHOLARSHIP: The Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education issued the schedule to collect admission form for the president’s scholarship examination to be held from Sept 7.
The last date for submitting admission forms with single fee is June 20 and with double fee June 30. Controller of Examination Dr Mumtaz Ahmad Awan said no admission form would be accepted without schedule.
