GUJRANWALA, June 7: The district bar association (DBA) will observe a complete strike here on Thursday (today) in protest against lawlessness and the rising incidence of robberies.

The decision to the effect was taken at a meeting held here on Wednesday presided over by bar president Ilyas Rehan.

Participants of the meeting said citizens were feeling a sense of insecurity due to the increasing number of dacoities. They said scores of lawyers had been deprived of their cars and motorcycles from district courts. They said the police had failed to arrest alleged killers of advocate Nadeem Abbas Alvi.

RECORD: Union council nazims have urged the district government to hand over the record of births and deaths to respective UCs from the municipality.

At a meeting held at Ghakkhar Town on Wednesday, nazims, naib nazims and councillors said people were facing a great deal of inconvenience in getting birth and death certificates.

They suggested that sanitation staffers should be transferred into union councils according to requirements.
