WB aid for Balochistan educational institutions

QUETTA, June 6: Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has said that the World Bank will provide $22 million for improvement of private educational institutions in the province through the Balochistan Education Foundation.

Speaking at a function for handing over buses to Tameer-i-Nau Public College Complex here on Monday, he said the government was paying special attention to improvement and promotion of education in the province.

He said that during the past three years, a women university, an information technology university, an agriculture university and a virtual university had been opened in Balochistan.

The governor said the Tameer-i-Nau education organisation had maintained a balance of religious and other curriculum according to the need of the time. He said other educational institutions should also pay attention to religious education.

He said the Higher Education Commission had decided to encourage institutions in the private sector in addition to providing financial assistance to the universities in the public sector.

Governor Ghani urged the Tameer-i-Nau organisation to plan establishing a university in Balochistan. He said all possible help of the HEC would be obtained for implementation of the plan.
