Grand Prix of Europe is a colourful, exciting animated movie full of fun and racing adventures. Made by MACK Magic and Warner Bros Film Productions Germany and directed by Waldemar Fast, it stars the popular theme park characters Ed Euromaus and Edda Euromausi in their first big movie.

The release of the 90-minute movie coincided with the 50-year celebrations of the German theme park Europark and its mascots, Ed and Edda. Set in an anamorphic world where animals can live like humans, the story begins with a dream in which Edda wins a Grand Prix race. A young, cheerful and determined mouse, Edda is the daughter of fairground operator Erwin, who was also a big thing in his days. Her biggest hero is Ed Euromaus, the Champion racer, who is fast, popular and always in the spotlight.

Ed is quite the opposite of the caring Edda, always surrounded by family and friends. Raised in an orphanage, he has no friends to talk to. He’s proud of his skills and doesn’t think anyone can race better than him. The switch comes when Ed gets hurt before the big Grand Prix of Europe race, and Edda takes the driver’s seat.

The movie follows Edda’s thrilling journey across Europe — from busy city streets to mountain roads — filled with speed, danger and even sabotage. Along the way, Edda faces tricky rivals and learns that racing isn’t just about winning, it’s about heart, courage and fairness. With rivals like a raven, a bear, a lion and a wolf in the race, it’s not just about speed — it’s also about knowing whom to trust and whom to watch out for.

Edda teaches Ed one thing — watching from the sidelines — that real strength comes from determination, not pride. By the end, both Ed and Edda grow — she becomes a true racer and he learns respect for her bravery. The animation is lively and full of colour, and the voice cast — Gemma Arterton as Edda, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Ed, Hayley Atwell as Cindy and Lenny Henry as Erwin — brings the story to life.

Edda shows that courage and hard work can help anyone reach their dreams, no matter how small or inexperienced they may seem. With themes of teamwork, courage and self-belief, Grand Prix of Europe is undoubtedly a heart-warming movie for those of us who love adventure and racing.
