KARACHI: The Karachi University Teachers’ Forum (KUTF) won key positions in the 2025-2026 Karachi University Teachers’ Society (Kuts) elections held on Tuesday.

A total of 508 voters cast their votes during the annual election, which was held in the Chinese Teachers Memorial Auditorium.

Syed Ghufran Alam of KUTF was elected as president with 272 votes, while Dr Mohsin Ali of the Teachers’ Alliance for Good Governance (TAGG) received 229 votes for the same position.

Dr Nida Ali of TAGG was elected as vice president by securing 281 votes. Her opponent, Dr Shumaila Samad Khan of KUTF, received 212 votes.

Dr Maroof Bin Rauf, representing TAGG, bagged 268 votes and won the secretary’s post, while Dr Farrukh Rafiq Ahmed of KUTF got 229 votes.

Dr Uzma Ashiq of KUTF won the treasurer’s post by securing 257 votes, while TAGG’s candidate, Dr Faisal Awan, received 235 votes.

The candidates of KUTF, Dr Taha Bin Niaz and Dr Zeeshan Iqbal, won the positions of joint secretaries by getting 293 and 249 votes, respectively, while Dr Asif Raza Khan of KUTF got 227 votes and another KUTF candidate, Dr Tehseen Ahmed, received 199 votes for the same position.

A total of 16 candidates were elected to the executive council.
