SIALKOT, May 30: The district experienced the hottest day of the season on Tuesday when mercury shot up to 48.4 degrees Celsius. All the city roads, streets and markets wore a deserted look as people preferred to stay at home. Attendance in educational institutions also remained thin.

Reports pouring in from various parts of the district said six people, three of them children, fainted owing to scorching heat.
