LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Thursday claimed to have cleared all outstanding dues of players and officials of the senior, junior and under-18 national teams, besides paying its employees’ pending salaries.

In a press statement, PHF president Tariq Hussain Bugti said that the dues of the national junior squad — which will participate in the Sultan Johor Cup in Malaysia, which starts on Saturday — had also been cleared, with players receiving their daily allowances in advance.

“The dues of all players and officials have been credited to their bank accounts. However, those without accounts may face some delay in receiving their payments,” Tariq stated.

According to the PHF, members of the senior team, who took part in the FIH Nations Cup held in Malaysia earlier this year, have also received their pending payments.

The PHF and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) had been at odds over the release of these funds, with the PSB reportedly refusing to cover the dues. The federation said it had managed to arrange the required funds through other sources to avert further discontent among players and officials.

Tariq expressed hope that with the issue resolved, players would now be able to focus fully on their upcoming international commitments.
