PESHAWAR, May 30: NWFP Governor Ali Muhammad Jan Orakzai has said that political agents will be given more power to effectively run the administration in Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

Talking to political agents of seven tribal agencies here on Tuesday, the governor termed the situation in certain parts of the region ‘unfortunate’ and said the government would not allow the situation to continue.

About law and order in Fata, he said: “Where there is no law and order there is no progress”.

Mr Orakzai said that issues relating to education, infrastructure, health, water supply and mineral sectors would be tackled on priority.

He said equal focus would be on agriculture sector to pave the way for reducing poverty and creating jobs.

The governor expressed the hope for ‘enormous’ increase in development outlay for Fata in the coming budget.
