Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied East Jerusalem, praying for “victory in the war, the destruction of Hamas and the return of the hostages”, Al Jazeera reports.
Under the status quo in place since Israel captured East Jerusalem in 1967, only Muslims are allowed to pray at the site, while a Waqf (Islamic trust) manages it, and Israeli forces maintain security.
