Rehabilitation work in Chiniot
CHINIOT: Relief and rehabilitation of flood affectees is going on side by side in Chiniot.
The district administration has so far restored communication links of 60 roads which were damaged by devastating floods.
Exceptionally high flood damaged crops, properties in 140 villages and displaced 245,000 people.
Apart from heavy losses to private properties, public buildings, including 85 schools, basic health units and union council offices were also damaged.
When floodwater receded, connectivity between villages and district headquarters to provide food and non-food items to the affectees at their door steps was a big challenge as the link roads were badly broken down.
The district administration has restored 60 out of 74 roads.
Main roads restored included Chiniot-Sargodha main highway, link road from Haveli Lohara to Wallarai, from Pangu Morh to Janishah, link road leading to Salara and Qazian, link road from Adda Jamiabad to Jamia Mohammadi Sharif, carpet road from Adda Jamiabad towards Aminpur village, link road from Bhowana to Naushehra and Obhan, road linking Purana Bagga to Naya Bagga, link road leading to Sherabad, Mauza Suleman and Rehman Colony, link road from Chenab Nagar to Thatti Khudayar and Kot Amir Shah, link road from Chenab Nagar to Tarhkhana Wala, from Kandiwal to Zafarabad.
Deputy Commissioner Safiullah Gondal said traffic on 14 pending roads would be started after water receded.
