PESHAWAR, May 24: NWFP Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Mohammad Idrees has directed the district government to help towns solve their financial problems so that they can ensure provision of potable water and other basic amenities to people.
He was presiding over a meeting held at his office here on Wednesday regarding shifting of the office of the nazim of town-III.
NWFP Minister for Auqaf Amanullah Haqqani, District Nazim Ghulam Ali, Town-III Nazim Shakirullah Khalil, Local Council Board secretary Rehmat Shah Ghazi, Social Welfare deputy secretary Sajjad Mazhar and officers of other departments concerned attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed matters pertaining to the shifting of the office of the nazim and reviewed financial problems of the towns of Peshawar.
The meeting was told that the office of the nazim would soon be shifted to the building of the social welfare department on the Khyber Road in University Town.
Mr Idrees directed the district government to pay attention to financial matters of the towns and cooperate with them.
He also directed quarters concerned to make arrangements for beautification and cleanliness of the Peshawar city.
