Plea challenging Raza Maneka’s win put off

LAHORE: An election tribunal comprising a judge of the Lahore High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing of an election petition challenging the victory of PML-N MNA Ahmad Raza Maneka from NA-139 (Pakpattan).

The tribunal, headed by Justice Anwaar Hussain, was hearing the petition filed by Rao Umar Hashim Khan, who contested against Mr Maneka in the general elections. In his plea, the petitioner contended that according to Form 45, he had emerged successful in the constituency, but the results were altered through Form 47, declaring the respondent as the returned candidate.

He asked the tribunal to set aside the notification of Mr Maneka’s success and declare him (the petitioner) as the duly elected returned candidate. The tribunal adjourned the hearing till Sept 12 for further arguments.
