CM briefed on rainwater drainage work in city

KARACHI: City Commissioner Hassan Naqvi has briefed Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on the ongoing and completed drainage works in Karachi after rains.

He said the drainage works are underway under the supervision of deputy commissioners (DCs) and with the cooperation of district municipalities.

All the DCs have submitted reports on the completed and ongoing works in their respective districts.

The CM directed to continue priority efforts for rainwater drainage.

The commissioner informed that in district South, drainage work has been completed at MA Jinnah Road, Abdullah Haroon Road, Chakiwara Court Road, Burns Road, Dr Ziauddin Road, Tower, Old City Road, Shahrah-i-Iran, Urdu Bazaar Street, Shahrah-i-Liaquat, Zaib-un-Nisa Road, Empress Market, Mirza Adam Road, Mai Kolachi Road, Memon Society Road, New Cooperative Cloth Market.

Drainage work has been completed on all roads in the Korangi district, the CM was briefed. The work underway in the low-lying areas of Mehran Colony and Allahwala Town will be completed soon, he was told.

Murad was informed that drainage work has been completed along more than 11 roads in Malir district. The drainage process has been completed in airport area and Quaidabad, and at Dawood Chowranagi, Memon Goth, Gulshan-i-Hadeed, Steel Town, Kidney Center adjacent to Landhi Jail, Malir 15 Road, Mehran Highway, UC Bakhtiar Road and Ghaghar Road.

While the drainage process is continuing in Prem Villas near Safora Chowrangi, Sub-Division Airport, Jat Para and Sub-Division Ibrahim Hyderi, the CM was informed.

Drainage work has been completed in Okhai Memon in Safora Town, Gulshan Iqbal, Civic Center, Chanesar Town in district East and Mominabad, Mangho Pir, Marri Road in district West.

He was further briefed that the drainage work has been completed in North Nazimabad, Gulberg Bandhani Colony, Liaquatabad, New Karachi and Nazimabad in district Central.
