PESHAWAR, May 22: The World Bank has appreciated the reforms undertaken in education sector of NWFP government and has hinted at the release of another tranche provided the same pace of progress is maintained in future as well. This was revealed during a meeting held here on Monday with Minister for Education Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani in the chair.

The participants were informed that donors had declared the province at the top with regard to social reforms, particularly in the education sector.

The donor agencies were extending all-out technical and financial support to the provincial government. The meeting discussed matters pertaining to the upgradation of the scales of Arabic and theology teachers.

In this connection, the education minister was told that the department had taken up the case with the finance department and a notification to this effect would be issued soon.

The meeting also constituted a committee to visit seminaries, who had applied for registration, renewal or recognition, for physical verification and decision regarding registration or otherwise would be taken in the light of the recommendations of the committee.
