Ex-army official martyred in mosque attack
LAKKI MARWAT: A former army official was martyred and three others were injured when terrorists opened fire on worshippers inside a mosque in the Malagan Nurar area of Bannu district on Thursday night.
A police official said that villagers had gathered inside the mosque to offer night (Isha) prayers when terrorists came there and tried to kidnap a former army official, Fatehullah Shah.
On resistance by villagers they opened fire, killing the former army man on the spot and injuring three worshippers, including Abid, 40, Kifayatullah, 36, and Mir Qad Ayaz, 50.
The official said that the attackers fled the place after the shooting incident, and the body and the injured were transported to the District Headquarters Hospital. After the attack, the police reached the area and launched a search for the assailants.
Bannu deputy commissioner Mohammad Fahim along with assistant commissioner Allah Nawaz went to the DHQ Hospital and enquired after the injured persons.
He also arranged ambulance vehicles to shift the critically wounded men to Peshawar.
