KARACHI: A young man was shot dead by robbers in Bhittaiabad within the remit of the Malir Cantonment police station on Friday morning, police said.

Area SHO Agha Abdul Rasheed said that Naeem, 28, was sitting outside his home on Street-30 at about 1:30am when armed motorcyclists emerged there, held him at gunpoint and demanded his cell phone.

He said that Naeem put up resistance and the robbers opened fire on him and rode away without any loot.

He sustained critical bullet wounds and was taken to a private hospital in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The victim was a plumber by profession and originally hailed from Punjab.
