PESHAWAR, May 21: One alleged robber was killed and another injured in a pre-dawn police action as they tried to escape after looting a passenger bus on the Pajaggi Road.
A police press release said that some robbers had stopped the bus, part of a convoy on its way back to the Ittehad Colony after attending a wedding in Shagai Hindkiyan village, near Aslam Dheri at about 3am.
The robbers deprived the passengers of Rs15,800, cellphones, wrist watches and other valuable items.
One of the victims informed the police about the incident. The police chased the robbers, who had not gone far.
The police retaliated after robbers fired on the police contingent, killing one of them on the spot. Another robber was injured but he managed to escape along with other gang members.
The dead robber was later identified as Gul Khan from the Shagai Hindkiyan village. Police also identified the injured robber and said he was named Ghaffar but the press release did not say how they identified him as no other gang member had been arrested.
KILLED: A person was killed over a dispute by his neighbours in the Shahabkhel village of the Badhber area on Sunday.
Hazrat Khan told the police that they had dispute with their neighbours over the issue of building a wall. On Sunday, Aziz Khan, his two sons Abdullah Khan and Zafar Khan, and othes, including Ahmad Khan, his son of Ahmad Jan alias Jandar, Imdad and Zikria opened fire and killed his son Zahoor Khan.
The assailants escaped after the murder.
