PPSC exams: action against 143 cheating candidates

LAHORE: The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) took disciplinary action against 143 candidates found cheating in its competitive examinations held from 2018 to 2025, including disqualifications, cancellation of candidature and criminal cases.

A report issued by the PPSC says the commission cancelled the candidature of 133 candidates, while 108 others were disqualified for future exams. Criminal cases were registered against two candidates, it adds.

The data revealed that 29 candidates were caught with exam-related material or mobile phones, 43 failed to return question or answer sheets, 20 attempted impersonations, while six used fake CNICs and 38 violated exam instruction.

In 2025, seven candidates faced cancellation of candidature, two were permanently disqualified and as many others were slapped with a temporary ban.

PPSC Secretary Afzal Ahmad said that the candidates were instructed to strictly follow the examination guidelines to avoid such actions.

A PPSC spokesperson said the commission will continue to implement a zero-tolerance policy to maintain a transparent examination system.
