Tribal chief killed in Waziristan

MIRAMSHAH, May 19: Militants on Friday shot dead a pro-government but influential tribal elders Totti Gul, in the restive North Waziristan Agency (NWA).

The victim was a leading Malik of Darpakhel Dawar tribe. Some unidentified militants dragged him out of his car and sprayed him with bullets, a local administration official said.

Totti Gul was killed outside Miramshah, a locality of the Agency where security forces are carrying out an operation against Al Qaeda and Taliban militants.—Online

Dilawar Khan Wazir from Wana adds: Unidentified assailants gunned down a school teacher in Kaniguram in the South Waziristan Agency on Friday. Residents of the area said that Wali had no personal enmity, believing that it was a target killing.

ROCKET ATTACKS: Suspects militants attacked security forces installations with rockets in the Sarwekai subdivision in the troubled agency.

The forces countered the attacks, but the suspects fled.
