RAHIM YAR KHAN:The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has opened its new regional centre at Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) here on Sunday,
It’s being described as a major step to expand postgraduate medical education and training in southern Punjab.
According to a press release of the SZMCH, the inauguration was led by CPSP President Prof Dr Khalid Masood Gondal. The ceremony was also attended by SZMC Principal Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Leghari, Regional Director of CPSP Rahim Yar Khan Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, senior members of the CPSP council, and senior medical academics.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gondal said the centre will provide doctors free access to postgraduate training, examinations, workshops, and research opportunities locally, reducing the need to travel to larger cities.
Dr Leghari called it a landmark for the region, while Dr Abdul Majeed described the initiative as “timely and historic.”
The event concluded after a session where CPSP leadership interacted with faculty and trainees to address their concerns.
