ANP asks workers to prepare for peace march
PESHAWAR: Awami National Party has directed its workers to step up preparations for the scheduled peace march on Islamabad to make it a success.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain, ANP provincial president, in a statement here on Saturday, said that the decision of peace march to Islamabad on August 23 to demand a change in the government’s policy towards militancy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been finalised by political parties after thorough discussions.
In this connection, he said the ANP had decided to hold district-level conferences to prepare for the march.
“A peace march will be held on August 23, starting from Swabi Interchange at 10am, to demand a change in the government’s policy towards militancy in the province,” Mian Iftikhar said.
He instructed party workers to hold district-level conferences, assign responsibilities, and work together to make the march a success.
The party’s provincial chief appealed to traders, teachers, lawyers, students, and other sections of society to participate in the march in large numbers.
He emphasised that the march would be completely peaceful but it would send a strong message against militancy and injustice.
The objective of the peace march, he said was to bring attention to the suffering of the people in the region.
