GUJRANWALA, May 19: The anti-terrorism court No 2 on Friday issued death warrants of three convicts in a triple murder case, and ordered the jail authorities to hang them on June 6.

According to the prosecution, Ilyas, a former patwari and Ghulam Abas, a former police constable, along with their nephew Asif killed Inait Ali, Akram and Zahid over old enmity in cantonment area in 1997.

The ATC had awarded death sentence to the convicts in 1998 and The Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the lower court. Their mercy appeals had been rejected by president.

The court twice gave time to the heirs of the convicts to arrange compromise with the heirs of the deceased, but the mediation efforts failed.
