‘Rapist’ of girls killed in accomplices’ firing

BAHAWALPUR: A suspect allegedly involved in the rape of girls, was killed in the firing by his “accomplice” during an encounter with a Crime Control Department (CCD) team near Pull Khanpur in the limits of Mailsi police in Vehari district on Friday.

According to Mailsi CDD, two unidentified suspects who were planning to commit a dacoity allegedly opened fire on a CDD patrolling team.

This led to crossfire between the suspects and the CCD team.

The police say that after the firing stopped, one of the suspects was found lying injured, who was identified as Tanveer, a resident of Araian Wahan in Mailsi tehsil.

On being called, a team of Rescue1122 reached the scene and declared the suspect dead.

The police claimed he was killed in the firing by his accomplices, who managed to flee under the cover of darkness.

His body was shifted to Mailsi THQ Hospital for the postmortem examination and a case against his fleeing accomplice was registered.

The CDD team claimed that Tanveer was a record-holder and was involved in over ten heinous crimes, including the rape of several girls.

The police said the suspect would barge into any house and, on finding a girl alone, render her unconscious using some chemical and rape her.

GIRL DIES: A 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly injured after being hit by a stray bullet on the rooftop of her house on Thursday night, succumbed to her wound in Nishtar Hospital, Multan, on Friday.

The complainant, Sajjad Hussain, told Shah Shammas police, Multan, that his minor daughter was asleep on his house’s rooftop when a stray bullet hit her.

She was rushed in serious condition to Nishtar Hospital, where she died during treatment.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered a murder case against the unidentified person who fired the bullet and shifted the body to the morgue for the postmortem examination.
