It was a bright, sunny morning. The sun was shining on the lush green grass, and everything seemed perfect. Hani was a cheerful and lively boy who loved playing video games and spending time with his friends. However, one unfortunate day, his behaviour took a turn that deeply hurt his parents.
It all started when Hani’s mother asked him to help her with some household chores. She had been working tirelessly all day and needed a helping hand. Instead of understanding her struggle, Hani, engrossed in his game, became irritated.
He snapped, “Why do I have to do everything? Can’t you do it yourself?” His harsh words echoed through the room, leaving his mother shocked and heartbroken.
Hani’s father, who had just returned from work, overheard the conversation. Disappointed by Hani’s rude behaviour, he still tried to talk to him calmly. But Hani, filled with anger and frustration, refused to listen and stormed off to his room, slamming the door behind him.
As the evening passed, Hani sat alone in his room, his mind racing with thoughts. He began to recall all the sacrifices his parents had made for him. He remembered how his mother stayed up late to help him with his homework and how his father worked hard every day to provide for the family. He thought about the times his parents comforted him when he was sad and celebrated his achievements with joy. Slowly, guilt and regret began to fill his heart.
He felt ashamed of his rude behaviour and realised it had been a sudden burst of anger — something he should have controlled, especially because it was directed at his mother.
The next morning, Hani woke up feeling deeply sorry. With a heavy heart and tears in his eyes, he went to his mother in the kitchen.
“I’m really sorry for how I spoke to you yesterday, Mama. I was wrong and disrespectful,” he said sincerely. His mother looked at him softly, said nothing and hugged him gently.
Hani then turned to his father and expressed his regret. His father smiled warmly and said, “We all make mistakes, son. What truly matters is learning from them and becoming a better person.”
From that day on, Hani made a conscious effort to be more respectful and helpful. He started assisting with household chores, listening to his parents, and showing kindness and appreciation for all their hard work.
This experience not only taught Hani the importance of respect and gratitude but also strengthened the bond he shared with his parents. He realised that true happiness comes from love and understanding within the family — and nothing can replace that. No game, no gadget and no entertainment.
