SAHIWAL: The divisional and district Administration jointly organised a cycle rally to commemorate the Independence Day.
The rally, brimming with national fervour, commenced from Mall Mandi Chowk and proceeded to the DC Office via Fateh Sher Road. The event saw enthusiastic participation from Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail, Principal of Sahiwal Medical College Prof. Dr. Akhter Awan, DC Shahid Mahmood, AC Ms Maham, alongside a large number of medical graduates, journalists, and citizens.
The participants waved national flags and chanted patriotic slogans as they pedaled through the city, celebrating the spirit of freedom and unity.
Speaking to the participants, Commissioner Dr. Asif Tufail emphasised the importance of tolerance, mutual respect, and civic responsibility in building a stronger, more inclusive Pakistan. In a parallel celebration, female students of the University of Sahiwal organised a symbolic scooty rally on the campus.
The rally began at the Academic Block and concluded at the Administration Block, drawing wide participation from students and faculty members.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Javed Akhter and the commissioner warmly welcomed the rally participants upon their arrival. Dr. Javed Akhter remarked, “Independence Day reminds us to honour the sacrifices and triumphs that shaped our nation. It is a time to renew our commitment to progress, unity, and national pride.”
One of the female rally participants said women’s mobility is the biggest problem for working women and this rally is a message to all girls to use bikes for their independent ride and work.
