‘Jashn-i-Latif’ held in Larkana college
LARKANA: A programme titled ‘Jashn-i-Latif’ was held at the Govt Arts and Commerce College to mark the 282nd urs of revered sufi saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
A documentary on the life and teachings of Bhitai was screened to providing students and other audience with comprehensive knowledge about the sufi poet’s life, works, intellectual vision and cultural contributions.
During the programme, held on Monday, male and female students delivered speeches highlighting the importance of Bhitai’s philosophy and thought. They also recited baits (verses) of the saint.
An exhibition of paintings and posters depicting Bhitai’s poetry was one of the salient features of the programme where the aesthetic and spiritual dimensions of his thoughts were creatively portrayed.
Students including Rafaqat, Laila, Laiba, Alishma, Safia, Raheela, Kanwal and Saqib participated in the poster exhibition to showcase their talents. Addressing the gathering, college Principal Prof Rizwan Gul said that Shah Saeen [Bhitai] was not only a poet of the past, but his philosophy reflected in his poetry was very much relevant today.
“Honouring Shah Saeen is a noble act, but understanding and applying his message in life is even more important,” he said, and emphasised the need for spreading and practically adopting Bhitai’s philosophy to ensure resolution of problems of the present era.
Prof Mohammad Hashim Soomro and Prof Tariq Aziz also presented Shah Bhitai’s kalam.
