SIALKOT, May 18: Talks between the high-ranking officials of the PTCL and the Excise and Taxation Department over sealing of the Daska digital telephone exchange remained fruitless on Thursday.

The two sides, however, agreed to continue negotiations till any amicable solution to the issue.

Sources said the excise department refused to unlock the exchange until the payment of Rs40,000 arrears owed by the PTCL Daska authorities. The latter, they said, assured of the early payment of these dues.

The exchange remained sealed for the third consecutive day which affected the services, besides causing a financial loss to the PTCL. — Correspondent
