LARKANA, May 17: The Larkana circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Wednesday disposed of a constitutional petition filed against the DPO and TPO Kashmore, about torture, robbery and bribery.
The bench also ordered the Sindh police chief to have an inquiry conducted into the matter by an officer not below the rank of DIG and submit a report within a month.
Advocate Faiz Mohammad Larik, counsel of petitioner Habib Solangi, on Wednesday said Kashmore TPO Muzaffar Kulwar on April 22, 2006, arrested the petitioner, stripped him off clothes and assaulted him in the Guddu police station.
The police officer had released him after getting Rs15,000 bribe, he said. When the petition came up for hearing, the DPO in his statement said the petitioner had been nominated in a case of murder registered with Haji Khan Shar police station Kashmore.
Mr justice Mujeebullah Siddiki observed in an order that when the petitioner had been nominated in the murder case, how he had been released against surety.
His release indicated the DPO was unaware of the absconders and had failed to check the record concerned after taking charge of the district, it said.
