FAISALABAD, May 17: Three members of a family were buried alive when roof of their house caved in at Chak No.102-RB of Chak Jhumra Town here on Wednesday.
Reports said the dilapidated roof of Manzoor Husain’s house collapsed as a result of which he along with his wife Abida Bibi and a six-year-old son Shakeel Manzoor were buried alive. The area police have recovered bodies from the debris.
PRISONER DIES: An under-trial prisoner expired in the local district jail under mysterious circumstances here on Wednesday.
Reports said Sabir Latif was involved in a fraud case registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and had been shifted to the district jail some months ago. He reportedly had no chronic disease.
His heirs claimed that Sabir Latif had been observing hunger strike for the last two days due to indifferent attitude of the jail staff over issues of meal and other facilities. They accused the jail authorities of torturing him to death.
When contacted, Jail Superintendent Yousaf Ghauri claimed that Sabir had been admitted to jail hospital a couple of days ago as he was suffering from chest pain and died on Wednesday morning.
