GUJRANWALA, May 17: An excise inspector and a Motorway Police head-constable were held hostage by a bus driver and his helpers when the officials were on duty at Ghakkhar town stop on the GT Road on Wednesday.
Reports said the inspector, Muhammad Yar, along with his staff, boarded a Peshawar-bound bus for routine checking of its documents, when the driver drove away the bus with the officials taken hostage by the helpers.
The excise staff at the stop informed the Motorway Police office at Jandiala Dhabwala, where the bus was stopped and officials recovered. The excise inspector and a Motorway Police head-constable, Ghulam Nabi, again boarded the bus to escort it to Ghakkhar town police station.
But the daredevil driver again sped away after pushing down the officials from the vehicle.
The motorway police and excise staff chased the bus by another vehicle and intercepted it near Lohianwala by-pass intersection. They handed the driver, Naeem Khan and his helpers Gul Saeed Khan and Waris Khan over to police who registered the case after impounding the vehicle.
