PESHAWAR, May 17: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan has said that the newly-built Kidneys Diseases Centre in Hayatabad Medical Complex will be fully operational by September.
He was addressing as chief guest at the foundation-laying ceremony of the Lady Reading Hospital’s Urology Department on Tuesday. Chief Executive LRH, Professor Abdus Samad, Chairman Urology Department Professor Taskeen Ahmad Khan, Professor Hazrat Bilal and Dr Amir Alam Khan also spoke on the occasion.
The minister said the government was giving proper attention to development of all disciplines of medical sciences in the province.
He said the government had sanctioned 192 posts for the Kidney Diseases Centre while efforts were under way to establish Urology Units in all teaching hospitals of the province.
Mr Khan said that the government had allocated a record amount for development of health sector. He said development of human resources in health sector was an area of priority for the government.
“Apart from approval of service structure for district specialists and general cadre doctors, a proper service structure has also been framed for paramedics,” he said, adding that now paramedics would have chance of promotion to grade 20. He said deliberations were also on for providing better working conditions to nurses.
Expressing concern over discourteous attitude of some health workers with patients, the minister said it was the most important area needed to be focused properly.
He directed the chief executives of all teaching hospitals to arrange continuous training for improving the attitude of technical and non-technical health staff.
