RAWALPINDI: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi formally announced the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examination 2025 results on Thursday, with a pass percentage of 62.89.

The results were announced by BISE Rawalpindi Chairman Muhammad Adnan Khan and Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU).

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi attended the ceremony as the chief guest. The event was also attended by Member National Assembly (MNA) Malik Abrar Ahmed; Members of the Punjab Assembly Malik Mansoor Afsar and Asma Abbasi; FJWU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Bushra Mirza; officers of the education department; teachers, students and parents.

According to the results, a total of 120,297 students were enrolled, while 119,293 students—including 58,786 boys and 60,507 girls—appeared in the examinations.

As many as 75,000 students passed, while the exams of 142 students were cancelled. A total of 862 students were absent. There were 145 cases of unfair means reported in 2025, including 61 cases in theory exams and 84 in practical exams.

The overall pass percentage was 62.89 per cent, with 73.89 per cent of girls and 51.57 per cent of boys passing the examinations.

In addition to the top overall positions, many students from government schools, and four from religious seminaries, secured top positions in the general and science groups.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi said that educational reforms are a priority for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

He said that the chief minister has provided laptops and merit-based scholarships to students, and that credit for merit and transparency in the education sector goes to her.

He added that the examination system has been digitalised to ensure transparency, and similar digitalisation is being carried out in the railway sector.

The federal minister also commented on India’s threats regarding water, calling them a declaration of war. “The country’s defence is invincible. Our army has defeated the enemy. Success was achieved due to faith and capabilities,” he said. “Successes are being achieved on the diplomatic front, and the credit for this goes to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.”

He further said that during the war with India, friendly countries stood by Pakistan, while India became isolated. “Today, the enemy is being ridiculed. The world is saying that five enemy planes were shot down,” he said.

He highlighted that the construction of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC), Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU), the Metro Bus project, schools, colleges and other development works are achievements of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.

“Development schemes in the colleges and schools of Rawalpindi have been approved,” he added.

MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed said that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif is introducing educational reforms in line with modern requirements.

At the end of the ceremony, a guard of honour was presented to the position holders. Federal Minister Hanif Abbasi and MNA Malik Abrar distributed medals and prizes among the top-performing students.
