244 flood-hit people evacuated
MIANWALI: Rescue teams have so far evacuated 244 people and 264 cattle heads during current flood season in Mianwali, Isakhel and Piplan tehsils of the district.
On Wednesday, rescue teams evacuated 10 persons from inundated village Darazwala in tehsil Isakhel and shifted them to flood relief camps. As per rescue sources, their teams are standing alert on emergency declared in areas Kamar Mushani Kacha, Darazwala, Cheena Pora in tehsil Isakhel.
The erosion of embankments in Dhingana continued as the flood water reached near old Sher Shah Suri road with a threat of its breach.
As per Kalabagh barrage gauge report, inflow recorded 405,937 cusecs in the morning and outflow 397,937 cusecs and in the afternoon inflow stood at 420,638 cusecs and outflow 413,438 cusecs. Similarly Chashma Barrage gauge reports inflow 395,076 cusecs and outflow 379,253 cusecs and position is medium flood.
It is learnt that the number of inhabitants of flooded Katcha areas around the Indus are still in danger because of worsening flood conditions. The district administration is trying to rescue them to safer places but unfortunately obstinate inhabitants are reluctant to leave their inundated standing crops and houses.
The district administration has left with no option but to forcibly evacuate them.
