DERA GHAZI KHAN, May 14: Slow pace of work and alleged apathy of contractors constructing the Dera-Rajanpur section of the 110-kilometre Indus Highway are causing health problems to the residents of the localities nearby.
The commuters and motorists are equally facing difficulties owing to constant dust cover. The Rs2 billion worth of project will not be completed by the end of this year as scheduled because the contractors are not adopting proper methods of road construction.
The contractors have allegedly not provided a proper diversion for the traffic and are not showering the road as a result of which the area remains under dust suspension, causing health problems to the people.
Sources in the highway department told this correspondent that the project would not be completed in time.
